UK-based Jacksons Fencing has launched a new solar fence panel, with each one capable of generating 425 watts of electricity.

The new product, called the Jaksun Solar Fence Panel, integrates cabling into solar variants of its standard Jakpost posts and capping rail.

Installation of the panels is similar to that of normal panels but requires a qualified solar installer to hook the panels up to the mains electricity network.

Jacksons said the panels, which are backed by a 25-year product warranty and 25-year linear power output warranty, could be incorporated into Passivhaus developments.

Each solar fence panel costs £270.92 (US$344.17) excluding VAT for the panel by itself. Jacksons said it recommended using a 0.6m fence panel underneath the Jaksun solar fence panel. Other panel height combinations are available, but planning permission is generally required for anything over two metres.
