In 2017, Cemex Ventures – the corporate venture capital arm of Mexican multinational building materials company Cemex – ran the first Construction Startup competition with the aim of investing in innovative startups accelerating the construction revolution.

Since 2019, a Top 50 Contech Startups list has also been published to accompany this. Gonzalo Galindo, head of Cemex Ventures, talked to Construction Europe about the success of the startup competition, industry trends, and why technology is the future of construction.
