Former FIEC director general Ulrich Paetzold dies

Former director general of the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) Ulrich Paetzold passed away on 20 April.

Paetzold headed up the FIEC team in Brussels, Belgium, defending the interests of the construction sector and FIEC’s European members for more than a quarter of a century.

He served in the role from May 1993 until June 2019 when Domenico Campogrande took over from him.

FIEC said in a statement, “We will miss him and remember him as the active and lively defender of the European idea and loyal supporter of FIEC that he has been throughout the years.

“All our thoughts are with his wife and family at this time of great sadness.”
