New tech project “missing link” for construction

By Lewis Tyler18 May 2022

InEight has announced the launch of InEight Design, a project controls solution that aims to help users manage design scopes and provide traceability in design quantities.

The software is set to be launched following a successful pilot period, in which it was deployed on more than AUD$14 billion (US$9.8 billion) of design-build and other partnership model work. During the pilot, the company said that it reduced quantity growth risk by up to 20% and engineering costs by 10%.

According to the company, the software also helps to eliminate impacts to budgets and schedules on progressive project delivery models by delivering an integrated project controls process.

Users of the software can control scopes, manage resources, predict completion dates, track progress and manage earned values as the design work proceeds through 30-60-90-IFC milestones.

The company state that by synchronising design and construction data, the software provides “the missing link in stakeholder collaboration and shared visibility envisioned for integrated project delivery.”

Brad Barth, chief product officer, InEight, said, “Global demand for construction continues to rise, and progressive delivery contracting models are becoming the norm for large complex projects. Managing and controlling the design scope on these projects is critical to overall success, yet until now design firms have been left to use disconnected spreadsheets to help manage their work.

“This powerful design management solution fills that void, providing a project controls solution for design work that provides visibility, collaboration, and accountability across the multiple stakeholders involved in these projects.”
